If You’re Out There (Unplugged) - John Legend vs Martin Luther King

I am very sadly letting this one go. It is not finished, tho’ I wish it was. This whole song was a real shock. I wanted to do something with John Legend’s ‘If You’re Out There’ and was stoked when the stems were released.
I stripped the song right down trying to hear something that I could play with and what I found was a beautiful gospel song at it’s heart. To call this a remix is, in a way, offensive because all I did was strip down the layers to reveal the beautiful heart of the song. I added only one element, or rather speaker, and left the song well alone, hence Unplugged.
At the pulpit is John Legend, a piano and a gospel choir beside him….and nothing else….except Martin Luther King Jnr, who is leading the sermon.

#OF Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride)

Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride)
A Tribute to Bill Hicks, Martin Luther King Jnr and Non Violence

This really, really pissed me off as one of the file samples is corrupt and I have had to go back and start again after two years of work! It's simply Robert Miles Children with loads of audio samples. It is meant to be listened to in stereo so you get the full effect of the explosions and voices of peace and war. I am going to finish this one day but I have to track down all the samples all over again :(

It was my very first mash up and it has a message which is summed up beautifully by Bill Hicks 'It's Just a Ride' which I let run almost in full. The end is a very young child responding to a bird singing. It is that simplicity of vision that I hoped to capture, especially as my technical skills were lacking when I started. I may make my own tune to this, who knows?

Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride) by theGingerZilla

I hope it captures the reality of war, that no matter where you live in this world, no what we are told, war is an affront to humanity and always will be. It is not a necessary evil. It is Evil. As Martin Luther King has said we are ALL brothers (& sisters of course). When you allow politicians to see others as different you strip your brothers and sisters of their humanity.

CellDweller

CellDweller4.3 by theGingerZilla

A remix of CellDweller - "a hybrid fusion of aggressive electronic music combined with orchestral and rock influences" who let morons like me download stems and add beats n' tweaks. It has a deliberate 80's drum sound in the intro, just don't ask me why. All I wanted was something that was banging!

I hope to edit this down soon as I'm not happy with it as it is, especially the sound levels. This was one I never got back to but having listened again I just might do that sooner rather than later as it doesn't sound far off.

GingerZilla Goes Jazz ft. Mary J Blige and Obie Trice

I had to improvise but I took Mary J Blige and Obie Trice into the studio with me where I happened to find Alif Tree, Radiohead and UNKLE. I then hacked them all together [strokes ferret and lets out evil laugh]:

Tupac 15th Anniversary Doublepack Tribute

Lesane Parish Crooks, known to the world as Tupac Shakur died 15 years ago today aged just 25 after being shot in Las Vegas six days beforehand. I never quite 'got it' at the time as what I perceived as his overt violence put me off. Time does sometimes gloss over our faults but the more I have listened to Tupac the more I see the human being underneath the gangsta rap persona. Both tracks featured are posthumous Tupac releases. I hadn't intended on releasing either track but as today is the anniversary I thought it appropriate. RIP.

The Reincarnation of Rob E C

The Reincarnation of Rob E C (Rob E C vs. Seal vs. Pharrell) - Cheesy Sex Mix
The Reincarnation of Rob E C

One that seems to have slipped through the net and was never posted on here (but was on Soundcloud). WARNING CHEESE ALERT: Poor Rob EC had his heart broken as he sings along to Seal's Prayer for the Dying, until smooth talking lothario Pharrell comes along and passes on a few tricks turning Rob into a love god.  As you can probably tell this is one to file under 'not serious'
Tracks used:

Rob E C - Freak 2 Nite (Acapella)/Free (Acapella)/Give it Up (Acapella)/I'm Sure (Acapella)/You can Try (Acapella)*
Seal - Prayer for the Dying (Instrumental)
Busta Rhymes ft Pharrell - Light Your Ass on Fire
and a small sample from Pharrell & Gwen Stefani - Can I Have it Like That

*Rob E C released these acapellas on the Sony Acid pro site.

1stp Klosr 2 Krwlng By Myslf (GingerZilla's Reanimated Mix)

1stp Klosr 2 Krwlng By_Myslf_2
Not sure if this is finished but I haven't changed anything in ages, so I thought I'd let it go. This is a remix of parts of Linkin Park's 'Reanimation' a remix album of 'Hybrid Theory'. [Update: I hope to have this for download again but in the meantime have a listen in the player]

UPDATE 28/11/11: I would like to make this available for download again as it is by far my most popular track. Leave a message if you want me to do this and I will.

Riding Bareback is Just Wrong

Riding Bareback is Just Wrong (Notorious B.I.G. vs The Darkness) by theGingerZilla

[UPDATE 2011: I'm going to add an 'advert' for this shortly and see if I can place it on a mediashare site as this one hit it's download limit]

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to present my first mashup release (actually the seventh track I'm working on, but first to be finished) .

I've had the instrumental track 'Bareback' (a B-side to Growing on Me) from late band The Darkness (who I absolutely loved!) for quite sometime and always wanted something to go with it. I found vocals with the help of the late Notorious BIG with Eminem on toking duties. I hated the Biggie's music at the time, but liked his vocal style. This mash-up helped me appreciate his lyrical style even more. The words leave something to be desired but as I grew up on rock music it's best not to cast any stones.

It's really just a cut and paste job with a few tweaks and I left the guitar parts bare because they rawk! Turn the volume up on this one and pretend you're Angus Young. AIR GUITAR ALERT!

Remember - Riding Bareback is Just Wrong!

Items Used:
The Darkness - Bareback vs. Notorious BIG - Dead Wrong
Also featuring an Eminem toking/coughing sample from 'Just Don't Give a Fuck
