Love is in the Air - Cheezy Pop remixed

Once upon a time remixes were looked upon as sacrilegious, however good songs are always carried forward in time. This is unashamedly cheesy but bears the mark of the same sensibilities that created the first few AC/DC albums. Seriously.

Marianne Faithful - Broken English down Gropecunt Lane

Broken English is a truly remarkable album that deserves its place in the annuals of English history somewhere alongside Gropecunt Lane.
The first artist to use “cunt” with its more precise, anatomical meaning in mind was also the first woman on record to utter it in a pop song: the incomparable Marianne Faithfull, on her 1979 comeback masterpiece Broken English. The former ’60s folk darling and Rolling Stones associate had spent two years homeless in London, battling drug addiction; fusing punk, new wave, and reggae,  Broken English was a frayed-nerve statement from a woman who had been through hell and back. Adapted from a Heathcote Williams poem, its final track,  “Why D’Ya Do It?” tells the tale of a woman confronting her unfaithful lover: “Why d’ya do it, she screamed, after all we’ve said/ Every time I see your dick I see her cunt in my bed.”

Remixes for Nothing (Dire Straits get Spliced)

Even if you don't like the original - which in my book makes you defective - then there's always something for everyone.

As ever loads more remixes, mashes and downloads of this track after the...

Neon Hitch Can Fuck U Betta (remix+pix)

Can't say I'm a fan of the original 'Fuck U Betta' and I am highly suspicious of the Gym Class Heroes 'Ass Back Home' - despite both being catchy as hell. It's not the Neon Hitch looks too much like Cher Lloyd's older sister Nor is this because of the over use of talents of Neon Hitch (see after jump) and the now obligatory use of a swear word by 'pop stars' to gain instant publicity. NO my ire is raised due to the horrendous usage of auto tuning and not even the video is enough to distract me.since it's only lyrics :P Howeveeeeer.....the LA Riots Club Remix is something different so I'll shut up and look at the pictures like the rest of you.

3 is the Magic Number

Today is a magic day, despite it being Double Monday all over the planet. Check out why on GingerZilla for more including a comedy cover of this track. Otherwise skip the words and just listen to the classic sound of De La Soul from two Sun[god] Cycles past. [The post will evolve as I find more downloads].

#OccupyFriday: Everybody hates JLS

An understandable reaction to JLS
Except for beliebers. It was nearly impossible to find decent remixes of any JLS track or Mashups for that matter which didn't make me want to vomit. I found only a handful - with some luck I might find more as I really do not want to remix/mash them myself ;)

#OccupyFriday #Obscene 19

Paul Hardcastle's 1985 smash about Vietnam gets twisted after the jump including the German version. First up the original version to set the scene and show that whilst the music might change, the story rarely does. Obscene:

Raining Blaaadd

Mash ups often make you appreciate a band even more. They are electronic cover versions bringing great music to people. I mean had anyone really heard of the Meat Puppets before Nirvana covered them on the Unplugged album? Artists should appreciate this and away from the clutches of lawyers and record companies they do. Where does the X-Factor begin and the adverts end? Mashup are always about the music. Where else would you hear Slayer mixed with:

#OF Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride)

Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride)
A Tribute to Bill Hicks, Martin Luther King Jnr and Non Violence

This really, really pissed me off as one of the file samples is corrupt and I have had to go back and start again after two years of work! It's simply Robert Miles Children with loads of audio samples. It is meant to be listened to in stereo so you get the full effect of the explosions and voices of peace and war. I am going to finish this one day but I have to track down all the samples all over again :(

It was my very first mash up and it has a message which is summed up beautifully by Bill Hicks 'It's Just a Ride' which I let run almost in full. The end is a very young child responding to a bird singing. It is that simplicity of vision that I hoped to capture, especially as my technical skills were lacking when I started. I may make my own tune to this, who knows?

Children of Violence (It's Just a Ride) by theGingerZilla

I hope it captures the reality of war, that no matter where you live in this world, no what we are told, war is an affront to humanity and always will be. It is not a necessary evil. It is Evil. As Martin Luther King has said we are ALL brothers (& sisters of course). When you allow politicians to see others as different you strip your brothers and sisters of their humanity.

CellDweller

CellDweller4.3 by theGingerZilla

A remix of CellDweller - "a hybrid fusion of aggressive electronic music combined with orchestral and rock influences" who let morons like me download stems and add beats n' tweaks. It has a deliberate 80's drum sound in the intro, just don't ask me why. All I wanted was something that was banging!

I hope to edit this down soon as I'm not happy with it as it is, especially the sound levels. This was one I never got back to but having listened again I just might do that sooner rather than later as it doesn't sound far off.

#OccupyFriday

#OccupyFriday - Rave Against the Machine

To go with my simultaneous post over at GingerZilla (a home of truth, love and laughter and the odd "mandatory conspiracy") and The Bleeding Nose Shelter (where I vent my Metal Mashing Mad spleen), I thought I'd have some rather tasty electronic remixes of the Rage Against the Machine Classic and British Number One, Killing in the Name of. In tribute to the #occupy movement, which was itself inspired by the Arab Spring, I post something every #OccupyFriday as it was always after Friday prayer that the People took to the street for their beliefs.

I am in awe at the spirit of humanity that is showing itself across the globe. Music is what makes us one, because I believe in seeing people as human beings first and foremost. Now I'll shut up so you can enjoy the music. If you have any music suggestions please send them to me on Twitter or leave a comment (I'll get back to you after the tone).

From Dubstep to Psychedelic Trance from Tech House to Drum n Bass. Most are downloadable and I have a sneaky suspicion I am going to play with these to Kill 'em All. Keep going after the jump for all the remixes.

My Aim in Life

is to take over the planet so I can ban Tuesday's and a few other things I don't like. Myndset has much simpler aims - making and playing absolutely cracking music.

Retro Chile - GingerZilla Impersonates Daft Punk

The breakdown (4:08) is in honour of the Don Dapper, who is sadly no longer with us.

He would have loved it, just as he would having his alter ego live on the web.

Retro Chile [Unfinished] by theGingerZilla

In my Mash Up Remix that follows this I go into space with N.A.S.A.

That's every Conspiracy Theorists Dream ;)

*The track is overdue some editing (story of my music life!!!) and general tweaking of aural nipples :)
